So DirectShow work Filter
- The DirectShow filters under Windows for Processing and playback of Video and Audio files. From various sources such as the local hard disk, the Internet or a DVD in the media data in a filter system, which passes the data to the appropriate Software like Video Player.
- The different filters together form a so-called filter graph. Each Filter has a different task: A reading of the media data, the next demuxed (disassembled in its single parts, for example Audio and Video data in DVD-Film), another decompresses the data (Decoder) and last but not least, the so-called Renderer, the data for playback or display type.
- At the end of the output data can be written back to the hard disk. The File Writer is done then.
