The cedilla, the "C with hook", is not used in our language, actually. But particularly for French and Portuguese names and words it is used frequently. How you can create this special character on the Computer, on the Mac, in Latex and in HTML, we show you in this practical tip.

C with cedilla – So write it

In order to provide the C with a hook, i.e., a cedilla, you have several options:
  • Especially easy is it to copy the C with the cedilla of us: Ç, ç.
  • If your keyboard has a number pad, you can generate the C with the hook using the key combinations [Alt] + [1][2][8] and [Alt] + [1][3][5] .
