Windows character table: Where to find them?

The Windows character table gives you an Overview of the entire character set that can represent a Font. In addition, you can copy it in your document. For example, you select special characters using the character table.

In Windows 7 you can find the table of characters in two different ways:
  • Click "Start," "All programs," "accessories," "system tools", "character table".
  • Alternatively, you can type "charmap" in the search box in the start menu.

The following method works on all Windows operating systems, including Windows 8 and Windows XP:
  • Press the key combination [Windows] + [R] to open the "Run"window.
  • Type "charmap" in the appearing window.
  • Click on "OK" or press [Enter].
