Multiple files in Windows rename at the same time
This procedure is particularly suitable if you have many files you want to number consecutively:
- First select the files to be numbered sequentially. For this, simply hold down the left mouse button and move over all the files you want. Alternatively, you can click on them individually while holding down the Ctrl key.
- The files are now highlighted in blue. You tap on your keyboard, the F2 key to rename files. Here you can enter the desired title. In the example, the sea has been used.
- Press "Enter". Then all the selected files get behind the entered title is a consecutive numbering in parenthesis (here: sea (1), sea (2), etc.).

Multiple files rename
Practice tip applies to Windows 7. In other versions of Windows this works analogously.
