Windows Explorer: enable PDF preview

The PDF preview in Windows Explorer is disabled by default. You can activate handles, the useful Feature, but with only a few, such as our practical tip shows.

Note: The following tutorial only works in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. In Windows 10, the approach is unfortunately no longer possible. In addition, you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  1. Simultaneously press the keys [Windows] + [R] to open the Run command.
  2. Enter "regedit" and confirm with "OK". Then the registry Editor will start.
  3. Go to the left in the navigation bar to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Classes\CLSID\{DC6EFB56-9CFA-464D-8880-44885D7DC193}
  4. Open you right the key "AppID" with a double click.
  5. Change the value of {6d2b5079-2f0b-48dd-ab7f-97cec514d30b} in {534A1E02-D58F-44f0-B58B-36CBED287C7C} and confirm with "OK".

  • Close the program and restart your Computer.
Note: in this manual the basic settings of Windows, you should before a Backup of the Windows Registry to perform.
