Windows 8 to go create - so it goes

Windows 8 to go is officially available only in the Enterprise Version to create and is therefore not intended for private users. We will show you how you come to your own Windows to go.

Windows 8 to go on USB-Stick or external hard drive to create?

  • You have an external hard drive available, you should use this also for the Installation of Windows 8 to go. The System is running out faster.
  • Install Windows 8 to go on USB-Stick, running the System may only very slowly. The Stick should be for an acceptable speed, compatible with USB 3.0 and 32 GB of memory space.
  • You have to use Windows 8 to go, no great plans, you can use the 32-Bit Version. This is much faster. The 64-Bit Version is recommended only when faster Hardware.

Step 1: Windows 8 to go download

  1. Download first the Download Tool for Windows 8.1 , download and run it.
  2. Under "select a Language", the German language, under the "Edition" to the normal "Windows 8.1" and under "Architecture" depending on your needs, a 32 - Bit or 64-Bit System.
  3. You decide the next step for the "ISO file" and select a location. Then, the Download of Windows 8.1 starts.

Step 2: Windows 8 to go on a USB Stick or external hard drive install

  1. Download this free Tool WinToUSB and install it.
  2. Now select the top of the newly downloaded ISO file of Windows 8.
  3. Connect at least now the external hard drive or USB Stick with your Computer and select it in WinToUSB.
  4. You will then be shown the Boot and System Partition, click on both points.
  5. In the next step, Windows 8 will be installed on the USB-Stick. Keep in mind that all data from the hard drive or the USB Stick will be deleted.
  6. Depending on the speed of the data carrier, the Installation can take over an hour.

Step 3: Windows 8 to go use it properly

  • Connect the disk to your Computer and switch it on. With a little luck, Windows 8 to go will start automatically.
  • In most cases, however, the usual Windows. Thus, only the data carrier is loaded with Windows 8 to go and not the hard drive with Windows 8, you must change the Boot order. This usually happens in the UEFI, in the case of older computers in the BIOS.
  • You have the Boot order changed successfully, Windows 8 to go started and can be set up.
  • Note: Each Time you use Windows 8 to go on a new Computer, the first boot a little longer. Windows needs some time to detect the Hardware.
