ntuser.dat is damaged - what to do?
Windows reports that the file ntuser.dat was damaged, in many cases it is unfortunately already too late. However, there are two things that can help you:
- Try your luck first with a System restore. The settings and Windows files will be reset to an earlier time. Windows has already been reported that a restore has failed, and helps the unfortunately nothing.
- The file cannot be restored, remains as the last, only the creation of a new user account. How it works and what you need to learn in the next paragraph.

- Does the old user, you can simply create a new user account to create.
- You have created the new user, you can access the data from your old user. You may need to confirm access with the input of the password.
- You will have to copy all the required data and settings to the account of the new user. Do not, however, make sure that you copy the old files named "ntuser". These are usually available directly in the user folder.
- In the connection you can use the old user account to delete.
