Thunderbird: set Master password - how to

You want to protect the E-Client program Thunderbird, you can set up a Master password. This is the password you need to type in then when you restart the Tools so that you can retrieve your E-Mails and read.

In the settings: Master password for Thunderbird to create

  1. Open Thunderbird on your Computer.
  2. In the top right, click the dashes on the Icon with the three horizontal, and select in the open menu, select "settings".
  3. Then click on the "security" tab and put a check mark in the "use Master password".
  4. Now enter the new Master password and confirm with "OK".

So that you can directly to the input of the Master password in your mail view, you should see the welcome screen in Thunderbird to disable.
