A new account in Outlook Express set up
To be able to Outlook Express for your E-Mail traffic, you must first set up your Mail account.
- In Outlook, open the "tools" menu and select "accounts...".
- Select the tab "E-Mail" and click "Add" and then "E-Mail...". It is the Internet connection wizard opens.
- Enter your desired display name. This is usually your full Name. Confirm with "Next".
- Now enter the E-Mail address that you want to use. Confirm with "Next".
- Next, you choose whether your incoming mail server POP3, IMAP, or HTTP is used. Usual either POP3 or IMAP are in the rule. Many providers offer both options. In most cases, IMAP is preferable.
- In the first input box, enter the address of your Inbox server. This usually has the structure of "LOG.PROVIDER.TLD" (TLD = Top Level Domain). In the case of Gmail, this would be, for example, "pop.gmail.com" or "imap.gmail.com". The exact address you receive from your Provider.
- In the second input box, enter the address of your outgoing mail server (SMTP). In most cases, this has been building "smtp.PROVIDER.TLD" for example "smtp.gmail.com" for Gmail. The exact address obtained from your Provider. Confirm with "Next".
- In the next two fields, you must enter your account name and your password.
- If no one shares access to the Computer, you can save at the "password" box. Otherwise, you must enter your password each Time you send or receive E-Mails.
- If your E-Mail Account supports secure password authentication SPA, you can enable this here as well. Otherwise, you can skip this step and click "Next". Then click on "Finish". The window "Internet accounts" you can close now.

You want to make additional settings to an existing E-Mail account, proceed as follows:
- Open the "tools" menu and select "accounts..."
- Select the tab "E-Mail" and double-click the account to edit. It and its properties will open.
- Here you can change a variety of settings. You can customize, for example, all of the Server data of an E-Mail account, a separate authentication for the outgoing mail server set up or the server port numbers for the post-configure input and post-output.
