Excel tables to compare and merge

Old and newer Excel tables, you can compare with just a few hand movements and bring them together, without having to manually synchronize data. On the Internet you will find numerous complicated formulas, we'll show you how that works even easier.

To compare Excel spreadsheets - method 1

  1. First, open both the Excel tables.
  2. Now paste the contents of the first table into the second table. To do this, select all the data with the key combination [CTRL]+[A] copy of the table with [Ctrl]+[C] and then paste at the end of the second data set with [Ctrl]+[V].
  3. Now double entries in the filter, first select the appropriate column.
  4. Under the tab "data" you find the Button "remove duplicates". The Tool searches the selected column for duplicates and removes multiple entries automatically.

Excel compare tables - method 2

  1. You will have to copy the first table and paste it on a new sheet in the same file.
  2. Now select the pasted table, if this is not selected.
  3. In the "Start" menu, click on "Conditional formatting" and determine a "New rule".
  4. Select "use a formula to determine the formatting of cells from" and enter the formula "=A1Tab1!A1" a. Here, we assume that the table starts in the field A1. Of course, you can leave the formula in another field to start.
  5. Then all Changes are marked and you can compare the tables directly.
