If you want to compare in Excel two columns to find duplicate values, you can use a formula. We show you in our practical tip.

No matter whether your values are Numbers or terms, you can use the following method:
  • In the column next to the two that you want to compare, enter in addition to the top-filled-in field, use the following formula: "=IF(A1=B1;"identical";"non-identical")"
  • Instead of A1 and B1, type the first two to be compared cells.
  • Copy the formula into the entire column by clicking the cell in the lower right corner with the mouse and drag down.
