Apple Mail: vacation message setup

You are on vacation, you can set up Apple Mail with an absence note. You should note, however, that the message to all incoming mail is sent to spammers.

In Apple Mail, you can define an absence note as a rule. However, this works only when the computer is booted and connected to the network. You do not want to turn on your Mac constantly, you should use the iCloud version in the next paragraph. Important: In the last step of these instructions, click on "apply". Otherwise, the absence note is sent as a response to all the Mails in your mailbox, not only to new, incoming.
  1. Start the program in the Mail and go to the "settings" to the tab "rules"
  2. Here you click on "add rule" and set a name, such as "absence memo".
  3. In the conditions you choose "All Mails". But attention: In this case, all Mails will be answered, so even Spam messages. You want to create only a pair of sender-of-office message, enter the e-Mail addresses rather individually.
  4. As the action to be performed, select "E-Mail". Under "response Text", then enter your message and confirm the new rule by pressing "OK".
  5. Important: In the following Pop-Up you have to press "apply". If you press on "Apply", it will send the reply to all received Mails.

Absence note via iCloud set up so it works

You have an iCloud account, you can set the vacation notice thereof. The advantage is that the absence note is sent, if you have not started your computer.
  1. Call in the Browser and the iCloud on, log in with your Apple ID and click on the Mail icon.
  2. With the small Gear in the upper right corner you can open the desired menu. There you will find under "rules" with an Editor for mailbox rules.
  3. With a click on "rule" can create add you also, then an absence note. To do this, perform the same steps as described above. Important: In the last step, you must press "apply". If you press on "Apply", it will send the reply to all received Mails.
  4. The new rule for both the mobile as well as Desktop Client, Apple Mail.
