Thunderbird set up so it goes right

You want to manage your Mails with Thunderbird, you need to set up your Mail Account first in the program. The Setup wizard of Thunderbird is designed to be fairly intuitive. What you need to consider, we will explain in this tip.

E-Mail account in Thunderbird set up

  1. Download the latest Version of Thunderbird and install it.
  2. Start the program and select in the top left under "file" and "New" the Option "Existing email account". Alternatively, select directly on the home page, under "Accounts," "E-Mail".
  3. Enter your name, E-Mail address, as well as the corresponding password, and then click on "Next".
  4. Thunderbird now searches for the correct settings. In General, these will be found automatically. This is not the case, you need the data for the POP/IMAP/SMTP Server of your Mail provider.
  5. You now have the choice to manage your Mail account via IMAP or POP3. While there are some Differences between the two protocols.
  6. Then click on the Button "Finish" to set up your Mail account in Thunderbird.
