Debit card: charges and fees in the domestic
- The possession of a debit card is usually free of charge. You open a current account in any Bank, you will always get a suitable debit card sent to you. For the current account monthly fee at many banks.
- You can use the debit card to Pay in the supermarket, at the hairdresser's or at the gas station, you pay no fees. The cost for payment by debit card, the merchant is always free.
- Raise money at the ATM of your own Bank , from you have to pay usually any fees. Since the year of 2017, some savings banks charge fees for withdrawals at ATMs. According to the second to fifth withdrawal in the monthly fees of up to one Euro per withdrawal will have to be paid. - Significantly higher fees, if you withdraw money from the ATM of another Bank. The respective fees are up to 5.50 euros per withdrawal and are externally marked on the machine. A stranger is automatic does not mean mandatory fees. Customers of Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, Postbank and HypoVereinsbank can withdraw money free of charge.

Debit card abroad: attention cost trap
- Within the EU you can use your debit card without any fees for cashless payments. However, this applies only to the countries with the Euro. You pay, for example, in Denmark, in crowns, of it comes a quite small fee for the currency conversion above.
