The "Raspberry Pi" is because of its price this is a great PC replacement. As a home computer, the Mini PC is not suitable but, as we will explain in our practical tip.

The Raspberry Pi is only suitable for Linux Users and special use cases

  • Because of the "Raspberry Pi" is equipped with an ARM processor, you can mainly customized Linux versions as an operating system. "Windows" is running so far (Stand: 8. January, 2014).
  • The officially recommended OS for the Mini-PC is "Raspbian"which is based on "Debian" based. If you are not familiar with Linux, you should take, therefore, a distance from the "Raspberry Pi".
  • For today's standards lagging Hardware limits the areas of application for the Mini-PCs. For home use, currently 512 MB of RAM is by no means enough. Important components such as network and HDMI port are built-in in the "Raspberry Pi".
  • So you can use the "Raspberry Pi", for example, as a simple Server, radio station or Media Center use. In principle, the Mini-PC is suitable for all tasks that do not require large computing power.
