Radio station "Raspberry Pi" - your own pirate radio station
You will need a Raspberry Pi with the operating system, a 20 cm long wire for the antenna (the best are jump cable ) and a Software. For this purpose, there is a free C-program, the WAV files with 16 Bit and 22.05 kHz (Mono), play or send. A Song and a radio device for Receiving the signals you need to of course also.
- First of all, you need to plug the wire to a free GPIO Pin.
- Download the Software and unpack the TAR archive.
- In the archive you find the Software "pifm", the Code "pifm.c" Python Script "PiFm.py" and already a sound file in the correct WAV Format.
- Call the Python-Script "pifm.py" and type: "sudo ./pifm sound.wav 100.0".
- In the indication 100.0 this is the frequency to listen to the you will be. For the playback of other Sound files you will need to enter the appropriate file name.

Caution: prohibited In Germany
In some countries (e.g. Germany) it is forbidden to use the Raspberry Pi as a radio transmitter, since the transmit power is above the allowed limit value of 50 nano-watts. This corresponds to only a few meters, with the Raspberry Pi to send, however, easily 100 meters in all directions.
Tip: how to legally and with better transmission performance
- Better sound quality you can with a USB FM Transmitter to achieve. Price around 35 Euro.
- Such FM Transmitter CE-approval, with a Maximum radiation of 50 nW - their use is therefore legal.
- You can use with the Transmitter, all frequencies from 87.5 to 108 MHz. The exact provisions you can with the Federal network Agency (bundesnetzagentur Vfg. 7/2006) read.
