Via Amazon's Kindle store, you can not only buy books but also borrow free of charge. What you will need and how to do it, we explain in this practical tip.

The conditions under which you can Kindle books to borrow?

Can books be borrowed for free, you need to:
  • a Kindle device like the Kindle Paperwhite or Fire. The Kindle App for Android, iOS and the PC it does not work.
  • a Prime Account at Amazon.

So the Kindle works-library

  • You can rent on a monthly basis a book for free.
  • A return period, there is not: you are allowed to keep the title for so long on your Kindle as you like.
  • The next book you can borrow but only if you have given the previous one back. You want to borrow a new book, you will be automatically prompted, and the last to return. Click in this note only on "return".

So you lend books on Kindle

The following instructions applies to the Kindle Paperwhite, the first Generation:
  1. You can visit the Kindle store on your Kindle on the shopping cart icon. Make sure that the device is in flight mode and you are logged in with your Amazon account.
  2. Under Browse, choose "Kindle lending library", and pick a Genre.
  3. Click on the desired book and press borrow on the Button "Free".
  4. Alternatively, you can search for a title directly using the search bar at the top right. He is provided with the note "Prime", it can be borrowed.
