Step 1: Fritz! box in DECT Repeater to prepare
Note: Very old FritzBox models do not support the Repeater function yet. At the moment you need a FritzBox 7270, 7240 or 7390. First of all, we are dealing, however, with your present Router, the so-called base station.
- Open the user interface of the FritzBox and enable the expert view.
- You switch left to the "System" category and select the point "buttons and LEDs".
- In the tab "button lock" to disable the corresponding Option and save it down using the button "Apply".
- Links go to the category "DECT", and select "DECT", the "base station".
- You disable it under the "radio power", the Option "DECT radio power down" and save with "Apply".
- Now, you can switch to the tab "security", activate the Option "Only secure DECT Connections allow (recommended)" and click "Apply".
- You can switch to the tab "wireless performance", disable the Option "DECT Eco" and click on "Apply".
- Finally, you switch to the tab "registration", enter a four-digit PIN and click again on "Apply".
- Note: disabled the Option in step 6, you need to perform, under the category "System" and "backup" is a "reboot" before it goes in the next paragraph.
FritzBox to use as a DECT Repeater
Step 2: out with the Old FritzBox as a DECT Repeater
Tip: the old FritzBox already longer not used, you should be before a Firmware Update.
- You can now access the user interface of the second box and log in.
- Go to the left to the category "DECT", and select the item "Repeater".
- Enable the Option "DECT Repeater active" and enter the above-defined four-digit PIN.
- Click on the Button "Apply" is blinking, the DECT - or INFO-LED on the Router.
Step 3: DECT repeaters and Fritz! box connect
You now hold the DECT or INFO button on the base station for approximately 6 seconds until the LED begins flashing. Both Router are flashing, you are on the search sequentially. The units stop flashing, the connection.
- The distance at the beginning is too large, place the devices close to each other.
- You can then increase the distance again. The LEDs are flashing, the distance to high.
- Tip: In the base station, you can now use under the category "DECT" in the "DECT Monitor" and the current Connections.
- Their DECT phones are still registered on the base Station. The radio signal from the repeater is stronger, the phone automatically returns to the transmitter, even while you are on the phone.
