Windows 10: fix error 0x80070643 - heres how

The error 0x80070643 occurred on many devices during a Windows update in spring 2019. The reason for this is usually Windows Defender.

How to fix update errors

If it is not possible to install a newer update, stop the update service manually.

  1. Open the Command Prompt with administrative privileges .
  2. Enter the command " net stop wuauserv " (without the quotes) and confirm with [Enter] . How to stop the Windows update service.
  3. Navigate to the following folders and delete all contents in C:WindowsTemp and C:WindowsSoftwareDistribution .
  4. Start the " Run " dialog and open the path " %UserProfile%AppDataLocalTemp " (without the quotes).
  5. Again, delete all contents of the folder.
  6. Switch back to the command prompt and start the update service again with the command " net start wuauserv " (without the quotes).
  7. After a reboot, you should be able to check for Windows updates.
