What is Safe mode?
Safe mode (safe mode) is a restricted start-up mode, the Troubleshooting can use. In contrast to the "normal" Start will not be loaded all the drivers and programs, but only the basic drivers for Running Windows is necessary. Thus, one can detect errors based on new programs or drivers installed, just and fix. A detailed list of the loaded drivers for example for Windows 7 you can find here.
- Helpful the safe mode is also, if you have forgotten the password of your user account. In Safe mode, login as Administrator and delete using the control panel the password.

Safe mode in Windows-Start-run
To start Windows in safe mode, press the computer start button, and press the [F8] before the Windows Logo appears.
- Select with the arrow keys to select "safe mode" and confirm with [Enter] and select the operating system (usually only one can be selected) [Enter] (see image).
- After the Boot, the usual Login window appears. In addition to your user account, you can log in as an Administrator.

Safe mode via msconfig start
If your PC is accepted at the time of booting no keyboard strokes (e.g. a Bluetooth keyboard), you can boot using "msconfig" to the Computer the next time you Start in the safe mode.
- Press [Windows] + [R] key (while in Windows)
- In the new window you write "msconfig" and click [OK].
- As a result, the window "System Configuration"opens.
- Go to the tab "startup" and put a check in the "safe mode" (see image).

In Windows 7, you don't have to go the detour via "Run". Type in the start menu-a search simple "System Configuation" (or part thereof) (see Screenshot).
