Recent documents in Windows 7 start menu
- Press the Windows Button (formerly Start), and then click with the right mouse button in the empty area to the right (above the "shut down"button).
- Open the "properties" and click on the tab "start menu" on the Button "Customize".
- You can now scroll the list until the end: The last point is called "most Recently used" (see image).
- You enable this and confirm the Change with "Ok".

Recently used documents
- Now press again "Start", you will find in the right menu column, above the Computer-entry "Last used" (see Screenshot).
- Click on this entry opens the list of recently used documents.
