The "Master Boot Record" (MBR) is faulty, and your PC no longer runs properly, you need to repair the MBR for you.

MBR with the Windows installation CD to repair

So that you can recover the MBR, you will need the Windows installation CD. You have this, do so.
  1. Insert your Windows 7/Vista installation CD.
  2. Set in the BIOS that your PC starts from the CD (usually the F12 key to press while booting).
  3. Restart the computer and then run the Windows recovery environment.
  4. Choose a Repair Center on the entry "repair your Computer".
  5. Under "system recovery options" find the "command prompt". Enter the command "bootrec.exe" and confirm the action with "Enter".
  6. Then enter in succession the two commands: "fixmbr c:" and "fixboot c:" (without the quotes) in the console.
  7. Then restart the PC.
This solution refers to a computer with Windows 7/Vista. If you have the Problem with Windows XP, you can find the solution here.
