What else you can do
If restarting without startup programs and background services does not fix the error, exit and disable all installed antivirus programs .
- Even briefly disabling Windows Defender can solve the problem. Dont forget to activate Defender after installing the update.
- It can also help to install the Windows Update manually via the website.
- To do this, call up the Microsoft Update Catalog and enter the KB number of the update package at the top right. You can find this in the settings under "Update & Security" above the message with the error code.
- You can save the package on your PC using the "Download" button.
- Then unpack the file by double-clicking on the folder and on the Windows Installer package. After you choose a location for the file, the file will be extracted.
- The update can now be installed by double-clicking on the unzipped file.
