Error 0x80080005: How to Fix Your Windows Updates

If the error 0x80080005 appears in Windows Update, you cannot install updates. The causes can be just as varied as the solutions. Well show you how to get the problem under control.

What else you can do

If the solutions described above do not work, faulty system files can also be the cause of the problem. To fix this, do the following:

  1. Open the command prompt with administrator rights .
  2. Enter the command "dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" and confirm with the [Enter] key.
  3. The Windows Update will now be reinstalled. If that doesnt help either, use the "sfc /scannow" command afterwards.
  4. The update should then be able to be installed without any problems.
