  1. For Troubleshooting, you need an original Windows DVD. The Version of the disk is not important.
  2. Insert the DVD and restart the PC.
  3. From the DVD to boot, you must have the Boot order in the BIOS to change. In our guide you can read how to do this.
  4. If you have set the correct order, the message "Windows Installation will be started". If you have a Windows XP disk, you will need to confirm this with a press of a button.
  5. After you have landed in the main menu, go to the "system recovery options". Open the "startup repair" and run a search.
  6. The program automatically searches for problems in the System and fixes them automatically.
  7. If you disk have XP, you need to open the "recovery console". Enter the following commands, so that you can fix the errors and the PC re-use: "attrib -c c:\bootmgr" as well as "attrib -c c:\ntldr". Confirm each entry with [Enter].
  8. Finally, you can set the Boot order back and restart the PC.
