Blu-Ray - optical successor media for the DVD
- A Blu-Ray Disc is an optical storage medium, such as, for example, a CD or a DVD.
- The Name "Blu-Ray" means blue - jet-with "Blu" is meant the English word "blue". He refers to the fact that the Blu-Ray Disc is read with a blue laser light.
- In a normal DVD Player, however, is used a red Laser. Since the wave length of blue light is shorter than red, can be dissolved in smaller areas in the case of the Blu-Ray. Thus, it is possible that the lines of the Disc are closer together, which means that on a Blu-Ray about 5 times as much can be stored, such as on a DVD.
- A Blu-Ray play, you will need a Blu-Ray Player. These are normally backward compatible, making it so even your DVDs can watch.
