Software a collective term for programs and associated data
Typically, Software is used as a Synonym to "programs". But also related data fall under the Software concept:
- As a Software refers to all non-physical components of a computer-based system. In the case of a Notebook or PC, the operating system is just a Software, such as installed applications and any data that will be generated.
- The counter-component to the Hardware. What exactly is the Hardware, we will explain in a further article.

Embedded Systems: Software, away from PC and Notebook
Familiar with the Software concept, particularly in the Computer area. But other systems are controlled by software - here is the Software with the Hardware anchored and is therefore called "embedded system" means:
- The on-Board computer in the car, the washing machine in the basement or in the oven in the kitchen - all of these devices work with embedded systems. The Software ensures that the devices in a particular logic, and you can control by buttons or other input options.
- Other entertainment devices such as MP3 players, navigation systems or DVD and Blu-ray Player can be operated with an embedded Software. You can control them similar to how a Computer - the difference is that the Hardware is any other Software (for example, an alternative operating system) compatible.
