Header - the Header of a Website
Web design is understood to be the "Header" of the header section of an HTML document. In it, you can hide a menu or just an image that represents the website:
- On the screenshot you can see the Header of CHIP Online the red menu is the same band with different categories.
- The Header is always located at the top of a Website. In some cases, an advertising banner that is not part of the actual page, above the Header.
- In the forums, the Header usually consists of only one image that is linked to the home page. You may for example click on the Header to the cat lovers forum, takes you back to the Overview of the page.

The counterpart to the Header of the Footer
The Footer or the footer of a Website is the counterpart to the Header. Most of the time more Links will be housed for the visitors less relevant, or only for legal reasons on the website are.
- On the picture you can see the Footer of this CHIP Online page. This includes Links to legal information and the terms and clues that make no contribution to the actual content to hide, for example. They are mainly for legal reasons on the Website.
- You operate a private Homepage, you can also look at the footer as a pure design object. Otherwise, the footer allows you to link to any pages or a menu repeatedly to incorporate.

To use the Header and Footer correctly, you need some knowledge in HTMl and CSS. We will clarify in another article about the differences between HTML and CSS on.
