What are UDF files?
In most cases, files with the extension "UDF" (Universal Disk Format) disk Image files from CDs, DVDs or Blu-rays, so the full images of the data carrier. In contrast to the more popular ISO Format, the UDF Format may contain files with long names. In addition, there is no limit on the directory depth.
To play UDF files
A UDF file to play or open, you need a suitable program such as IsoBuster. During the Installation, you can associate the Software with the files in the UDF Format.
- You want to open the UDF file using the program interface of IsoBuster, you need to change the selection of file the file extension to "All files".
- The UDF file was opened with IsoBuster, you will see the program all the Image files and folders. You can extract this to a right click and saved on your hard drive. Then the files can be used as usual.

To convert UDF files to
- To a file of the UDF Format, for example, in the more common ISO Format, you will need a Software such as the Shareware available UltraISO. After you have installed and started the program, click in the menu bar, click "tools" and then click "Convert". Select the source file, ("All files" as the file extension select) the destination folder and the output format. Last, click "Convert".
- The UDF file is the Image of a Video DVD, and you want to convert these to another video format, you must first copy the files to your hard disk (see "how to play UDF files from").
