Files will not be deleted under Ubuntu immediately, but in a recycle bin. As this empty, we will show you in our practical tip.

Trash under Ubuntu empty

The trash in Ubuntu you can delete with a simple command in the Terminal:
  1. Click with the right mouse button on the Desktop and select "open Terminal".
  2. Now enter the command "sudo rm-rf ~/.local/share/Trash/*" and confirm with [Enter].
  3. Finally, you have to enter your password. The recycle bin is emptied then, irrevocably.
