Thunderbird Master password to protect
In Mozilla Thunderbird you can use the user names and passwords with you on your E-Mail accounts, access, store. This data can also be combined with a Master-password secure:
- Start Thunderbird and click in the menu bar on "Extras".
- Here you choose the entry "settings".
- Under the "security" switch to the Tab "passwords".
- You put a checkmark on "use Master password" and enter in the Dialog box and reenter your desired password.
- You can save the data with "OK". From now on, Thunderbird always asks for the Master password as soon as you want to access the stored data.

Although the Master password protects well, can in principle read any already downloaded and stored E-Mails on your PC. You want to when you Start Thunderbird with a password set up, you need to resort to an Addon.
- Download the free add-on startup master download.
- Then start Thunderbird and click "tools" on the entry "Addons Manager".
- Select from the Options menu next to the search box "Add-on from file install" and locate the downloaded XPI file to your hard disk.
- Thunderbird installed the Addon automatically. Then, you must create a Master password. It is the same password as in the first paragraph.
- Confirm your password with OK, the Addon is active. Once you restart Thunderbird, you will need to enter the password.
