USB, SD and HDD format to FAT 16
- With Windows 95, the successor to FAT-32 was introduced. FAT 16 remains active, but with a few restrictions.
- Only memory cards, USB Sticks and hard drives, which hold a maximum of 4 GB, you can format with FAT 16. The maximum file size is 2 GB.
Instructions for Windows: SD, USB and hard disk drive to FAT 16 format
- Simultaneously press the keys [Windows] and [E], so that the Explorer opens.
- Now navigate to the connected SD card, USB Stick or hard drive and note the drive letter.
- Simultaneously press the keys [Windows] and [X], so that the command "Run" will open.
- Enter "cmd" and confirm with "OK". Then, the command starts call.
- Now type the following command and confirm with the key [Enter]: "format A: /FS:FAT /Q"
- The letter "A" must be replace by the corresponding letter of the drive. Subsequently, the data carrier is formatted to FAT 16.
