So you are manually downloading Updates in Ubuntu
In this tutorial we will show you how to download Ubuntu Updates via the console and install. The steps you see in the images gallery.
- Open the Ubuntu console using the key combination "Ctrl + Alt + T". Alternatively, you can type in the top left search for "Terminal".
- For the Updates you need an Internet connection. This is enter the following line: "sudo apt-get update".
- You will be asked for your password. Don't be surprised that you can see what you enter - the System prevents anyone to know how many characters your password. To conrm, press the Enter key.
- Your System lists the package. To update the programs, type in "sudo apt-get upgrade". No new password prompt appears.
- Depending on the Update, some programs require more hard disk space. As you see in the pictures gallery , you need to confirm that. Press "j" to comply.
- The Updates are now complete. In some cases, a reboot is necessary, you are in the console with "sudo reboot" commands.
