Linux Fedora update – so it works
- First, open the file "/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo", and adjust the contents as follows: "[fedora] name=Fedora $that reads releasever - $base arch baseurl=ftp://installc1.rz.rwth-aachen, Germany.EN/export/redhat/fedora-$that reads releasever/$base arch/cd1/ enabled=1 gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-$base arch". This specifies where the installation packages are to be found.
- In the next step, you need to the file "/etc/yum.repos.d/fedora-updates.repo" as follows: "[updates] name=Fedora $that reads releasever - $base arch Updates baseurl=ftp://installc1.rz.rwth-aachen, Germany.EN/export/redhat/updates/fedora-$that reads releasever/$base arch/ enabled=1 gpgcheck=0 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-$base arch". Here is the Update defined packages.
- For security reasons, some packages should be excluded from the automatic Update. To do this, open the file "/etc/yum.conf" and add "exclude=kernel,glibc".
- Now go to the SSH connection and login as Administrator.
- Then enter the command "yum update --disable excludes=all" to perform an Update.
- Wait until the process is complete, and then restart the System.
