Trackpoint disable - so it goes directly in the Bios
Not every tip works for every model. Over the years, Lenovo has created a variety of ways, the Trackpoint off. The fastest and easiest method through the Bios. Especially with older Thinkpad generations, works this way often:
- To do this, start the Notebook with the power button and immediately press several times the function key "F1". After that, you are in the Bios.
- There you navigate with the arrow keys to the item "Config" and then to "mouse/keyboard".
- Click on the sub-item "Trackpoint" and disable the Option.

Users of newer models get two additional ways that you can the unfamiliar mouse-replacement, disable:
- On the Desktop, press the keys [Fn] and [F8] at the same time. Now a small window will open with the title "Ultranav options"
- Here you can select various settings. In our case, navigate to the "Touchpad enable / disable (Trackpoint disable)". In the same way, you can make the settings, of course, also reversed.

Also, the control panel brings you further with the myriad of options to a wide range of PC-components such as the Trackpoint:
- In Windows, open the control panel (in Windows 7/8/8.1 using the search function or the "Start" / "Windows Button" to the target).
- Go to the Option "mouse" or search for it on the line in the upper-right edge of the image.
- Go to the tab "Ultranav" and remove the check in the "enable Trackpoint".

At least one of the three pathways leads to the goal, namely, the Disabling of the TrackPoint. Whoever, however, the unusual Navigation Trackpoint, you will quickly realize that the little red dot to quickly and accurately navigate it. However, this requires actually some Exercise.
