Gmail in Thunderbird set up - so it goes

In this practical tip we will explain how you can set up your Gmail account in the free Email Client Thunderbird. You can use the account either using the IMAP or POP3 Protocol.

Preparation: IMAP in Gmail enable

You want to use for your Gmail account in Thunderbird IMAP, you must enable the Protocol may be first in your Gmail account:
  1. Call Gmail in your web browser.
  2. Top right, click on the gear icon, then select "settings".

  3. You want to use the IMAP Protocol, select "IMAP" for the POP3 Protocol, select "POP3". After that, click "Finish".
