- Duplicate your image and add as the first layer, a blank layer.
- Click on the blank layer, and create your Tool window ([F5]), a black rectangle at the point where the frame is located.
- For the 3D effect of the frame, choose "layers" -> "rotation zoom...". Rotate the rectangle so that it seems to stand in the room.
- Fill in the rotated rectangle using the "color bucket", so that a black Block.

- They remain now with the black Block and the underlying layer, which has the shape of the block.
- In the Layers panel, then slide the second level to the top and hide the bottom layer by means of a Checkbox.
- You choose the level of the black block. Select with the magic wand the black Block. You pull him with a "Toolbox" -> "Selected pixels to move," so large that it forms a border for the image.
- To summarize, you now have the top two layers in the layers window. You are left with the frame and the actual image on the lower level.
2. Step: the object from frame to extend
The finished frame now serves as the basis for the 3D effect.
- You can move the image in the layers window on the frame.
- You can press [F4] and set the Slider of "opacity" to 150.
- Now take the Lasso Tool and draw roughly your desired object.
- Again, press [CTRL]+[i] and then [Delete].
- Then use the "Eraser"Tool to free the object from the rest of the edge.
- Now set the "opacity" back to 255, and then merge the layers.
