Gimp: shadows behind objects - so it goes

Shadows make an object look three-dimensional. With GIMP this is easy to create. In this practice tip, you will learn how to do this.

GIMP: shadow select

In the free image editing software GIMP is a shadow at Best, with the help of the function "scarf gschatten" create:
  1. Select the object which you want to add a shadow.
  2. The drop shadow is located under the Filters. Go to "Filter" in the upper task bar.
  3. Here you can select "light and shadow".
  4. In the penultimate line of the "drop shadow" is. Click on it to open it.

  • "Offset X" specifies how many pixels the shadow is from the object in the horizontal direction differs.
