FileZilla: SFTP connection - how to

A secure connection with your Server, you can connect to FileZilla via SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol). How to do this, we will show you here.

With FileZilla SFTP connect to the Server

In order to make a SFTP connection, it must be granted SSH access to your Server. Most providers have enabled the feature by default.
  1. Start FileZilla on your Computer.
  2. At the top left in the ribbon menu of the "server Manager".
  3. Here, click on "New Server".
  4. Now you can enter the data of your server. A SFTP address has usually presented the name "sftp". So the address could be, for example, "sftp.meinserver.com".
  5. Enter the Port number "22". This is the default port for SSH Connections.
  6. The item "Protocol:" choose "SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol".
  7. After you have entered your user name and password, you can log in via "Connect" on the Server.
