You create your electronic signature via the Elster Software certificate
If you want to associate with the tax office electronically, you should get a Software certificate. With this certificate, you log in to your private area at Elster online. If you have created the tax Declaration, you can mark the Declaration with the certificate electronically.
- This Software certificate are available on the website of the Elster, by the bottom of the "registration" screen. There, you will then receive either a free certificate with a simple level of security, you save on your Computer and with a number combination secure.
- In the future, you sign with this certificate to your tax returns. The certificate file you should back up very carefully. If you delete this file, you need to register with the Elster.

Check whether your PC is suitable for Elster
You can use on your PC only then magpie, if your PC can run a specific Version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed.

After you receive your Software certificate, log in to your personal area at Elster.

- If you have completed the entry, sign your statement with your Software certificate and send you.
If you want to create your tax return, prefer offline, you can also create the VAT Declaration with the program "elsterformular". In this program, you can also transfer your data, such as address or tax identification number, from the previous Declaration.
