Windows 8 displays at the right edge, the Charms bar, as soon as you get the mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen. By a setting in the Registry you can turn off.

Charm Bar via Registry disable

  1. You switch to desktop view and press the key combination [Windows] + [R]. Then type in "regedit" and confirm this key by Enter.
  2. Now navigate to the key "HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Win dows\CurrentVersion\Immersive shell".
  3. Now, open the command "edit | New | key", enter the name of the "EdgeUI" and press Enter.
  4. Open the new sub-key and then the command "edit | New | DWORD value". Enter "DisableCharmsHint" and confirm the.
  5. Click to edit double-click this new entry. Now change its value to "1", confirm this with "OK" and close the Registry. The Change is immediately and without a restart to take effect.
Because the Charm bar is, however, direct access to some important functions, such as the switch or the control panel, you should remember the key combination [Windows] + [C]. This also works in spite of the Registry intervention to continue.
