Adobe Illustrator: image trace – how to succeed'

With Adobe Illustrator you can trace very easily the images, which are present as pixel graphics, vector. We will show how this works with the so-called Image trace function.

  1. First, open the image in Adobe Illustrator.
  2. Click on the graphic with the selection tool, to select it.
  3. Then you open "window > Image trace function", the Image trace function tool in Illustrator.
  4. In this small editing window you will find all the options to Convert your artwork. First, select an appropriate target - such as grayscale or sketch graphics.
  5. On "Advanced" you can show more Control and with this the image to your Liking. For example, you set the Controller "paths" to the level of detail of the trace.
  6. You are satisfied with the result, you can close the Image trace function. The image is a pixel graphic in Illustrator.
  7. In the last step, click above in the menu bar, click the Button "Convert". Illustrator creates a vector image from the signed image, and displays the paths.
