For security reasons, you should enable in the SSL-encryption, when you retrieve your E-Mails. Most of the major E-Mail providers offer this encryption automatically. We will show you how you can change the settings if necessary.

The E-Mail to enable SSL encryption

The procedure depends on which Android App you use on your Smartphone for E-Mail traffic. We will show you the example of the default Mail App of HTC Smartphones.
  1. You go in the E-Mail App in the "menu" to "settings".
  2. Here are all of the established E-Mail accounts will be displayed. Select the appropriate account.
  3. In the following menu, click "account settings" to change the connection settings.
  4. Depending on the type of device, your Smartphone shows you the connection settings. Other manufacturers, such as Samsung, you need to scroll down and hit "More settings" button. Under "incoming mail server" and "outgoing mail server" you will find the settings.
  5. Now check whether the incoming mail server at the time of encryption, SSL or SSL/TLS is set. If not, change the. Depending on the Protocol, you might need to change the Port to 995 (POP3) or 993 (SMTP), if this happens automatically.
  6. For the incoming mail server if necessary, change the encryption to SSL. The corresponding Port is 465 or partly 587.
