Stiftung Warentest has been testing Action Cams: Sony beats GoPro
The GoPro Hero 3 is the most well-known Action-Cam - not the best of test winner is Sony HDR AS100V.
- With an overall grade of 2.7 in the first place Sony gets HDR AS100V only a "Satisfactory". But only you got of all the Action Cams is still a "Good" in the category "Video". The were test experts criticized also the photo and sound quality, a typical Problem with Action Cams.
- In contrast to the GoPro, Sony Action Cam has image stabilization and creates over two hours of recording at a stretch. Price about 250 Euro.

- Course 2: The Garmin Virb Elite creates it surprisingly on the second place (score of 2.8). Thanks to a pleasing, simple handling and a stabilization function, the Garmin-Cam performs better than the GoPro competition. Price: about 290 Euro.
- Place 3: Only on the third place takes it to the GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition (score of 2.9). Video-, photo - and sound-quality are only "satisfactory". Only the handling is especially simple. In contrast to the other Cams, the GoPro creates underwater pictures up to 40 meters depth. Price: approx 340 Euro

Conclusion: GoPro or Sony? CHIP has been next favorites...
In test-Ranking Sony beat the GoPro now but there is a new star in the Action-Cam-heaven. The CHIP-best list reveals:
- The Panasonic HX A500 has Sony from square 1 displaced and now leads the best-of list of the Action-Cams on. Price is approximately 370 euros.
- In the CHIP-Test the GoPro Hero 3+ (Black Edition) also a little better, as a competitor-Sony. Therefore, it is allowed to call itself after the CHIP-Ranking the GoPro, the second-best Action-Cam, followed by Sony HDR-AS100V on place 3.
