Excel: names for cells and cell ranges assigned

In this practical tip we show you how to assign Excel names for cells and cell ranges. There are two methods to do this.

Names for cells and ranges of cells to be awarded - so it goes

You can place the cells directly in the workspace name:
  1. Select the cell or cell range that you want to get a name.
  2. Then click to the left of the function line to the name field. Here, for example, "A1", if you select the first cell.
  3. The name you can change now, and instead of "A1" for example, "Hello" call.

Alternative: the name of the menu to distribute

Also on the menu, you can assign cells and cell ranges names:
  1. Click with the right mouse button on the cell or the cell range you want to name.
  2. In the open menu select "area name".
  3. Here, you enter next to "Name" your designation and save via "OK".
