If you use Excel to create a simple table, you can save it as a CSV file. So you can use the file in many programs, since CSV is often used as a Format for simple tables.

You can save your simple table on the menu as a CSV file:
  1. Click "file" > "Save as..."
  2. If you have Office 2013, you need to click on "Browse". In other versions, you need to select under "file type" to the Format "CSV (comma delimited)", on the Mac, "CSV (Macintosh)".
  3. Now enter a filename and choose a location. Finally, click on "Save".
