WordPress on Mac OS X install - so it goes

Mac OS X: how to create database in order to use WordPress locally

  1. Enter "localhost" in the address line of your browser.
  2. Then, navigate to "phpMyAdmin".
  3. Here, click on "databases" and then "create New database".
  4. Then you can give the database any name. Select "collation" the Option to "utf8_general_ci".
  5. With a click on "Create" will create the database.
  6. Then go to the tab "rights" and click on "add user".
  7. Now enter a user name.
  8. Under "select Host" Option to "Local only", because the database is supposed to be used only on the Mac.
  9. Enter a password for the user and make sure that under "database for user" select "Grant all privileges on database [IhrDatenbankName]" is selected.
  10. With a click on "OK" the settings will be applied.

WordPress locally on the Mac install

First download the latest Version of WordPress down.
  1. Then unzip the downloaded file.
  2. You will have to copy all of the files in the "htdocs"folder of XAMPP. You can find this in the main directory of your Mac.
  3. Now go to the Browser and enter the address "localhosz/wp-admin/install.php".
  4. You will get the message that the file "wp-config.php" does not exist. With a click on "Create configuration file" is created, the required file automatically.
  5. You will now see instructions for the Installation, you should be aware of. With a click on "sync now" will start the Installation.
  6. In the next step, the data is displayed the database. Enter here the name and the user name and the password of the database that you created in the previous step.
  7. With "Send to" continue with the Installation.
  8. In the next step, you can assign a title for your Blog as well as the Admin Account.
  9. After you have finally clicked on "WordPress" install, this will install the Software is now complete.
  10. You can then login under "localhost" in your Browser.
