Function 1: to Delete a CD/DVD-RW with disk utility
Re-writable CDs or DVDs, you can erase with the Disk utility in order to use them afterwards:
- Place the to-be-deleted CD/DVD and open disk utility from applications - > utilities - > disk utility.
- Select in the left column, find the DVD drive icon.
- In the right pane, click on the Button [Delete], and the desired deletion method from the select.
- Then click again the [Delete] and confirm the security query that you want to delete the data carrier really.

Function 2: Images of CD/DVD create
Using disk utility, you can archive CDs/DVDs or copy them, but also to access data without the disc is in the drive. You just need to create an Image:
- Insert the CD/DVD that you create an Image you want to and go to the disk utility.
- In the left column, click on the DVD drive icon
- Now select in the menu the Option "New Image bar".
- In the opening window you can now select the location as well as the Image Format and the desired encryption.
- Click on [Save], then created the Image.
- The image file via the Finder to access and use as the disk itself.

Function 3: back of a CD/DVD to restore from the Image
You want to connect to a CD/DVD from the Image? No Problem with the following three steps:
- Insert a blank CD/DVD and go to disk utility.
- Click in the left column, click the DVD drive icon, and then select from the menu bar, the Option "Burn".
- Select in the opening window, the relevant Image file and finally click on the Button [Burn].
