A new Partition add, it is usually necessary to reduce the size of the existing(n) Partione(n). To do this, perform the following steps:
  1. Open the disk utility with "programs" -> "utilities" -> "disk utility".
  2. Select the hard drive you want to partition, click the Button [Partition.]
  3. In the right window you will see under "partition layout" the logical division of the hard disk. Click on the lower right corner and hold down the mouse button. So you can reduce the size of the Partition. Make sure that stays under the blue area (occupied area) is still sufficient space for future data (white area). In the field "size" you see the extent of the to shrink the Partition in GB.

A new Partition on the Mac to create

In the unpartitioned area of the hard disk, you can create one or more new Partition(s):
  1. Click on the [+] icon under the partition layout.
  2. Click on the newly created Partition and choose "partition information" the name of the new Partition. Select the desired file system in the drop-down box of "Format".
  3. You want to add another Partition, right-click on the just created, and then click the [+] icon. To edit the sizes of the new partitions, click on it and type the new value in the field "size". All other partition sizes are automatically adjusted.
  4. Click finally [Apply] to perform the partitioning operation. You want to cancel the operation, click [Reset.]
