Dashboard-a Background in MacOS and replace the
In the Dashboard, you can make small applications - called Widgets - to run, and will show the information such as the time or the weather. To see this Overview, you need to delete on a MacBook with only three fingers to the right. Unfortunately the System provides no way to change the drab, grey Background - this works but on a few detours:
- First of all, you need the exact resolution of your monitor, as the Dashboard Background is not scaled. You can find out very simply by using the screenshot function (CMD + SHIFT + 4).
- Scale your Background to the out the found size: Like the example in the Gimp works, show how you in this practice tip.
- Now you have to navigate to the location of the Dashboard background. To do this, open the Finder and navigate to the path "System/Library/CoreServices". Click with the right mouse button on the program "Dock.app" and select "show package contents".
- The background image, see the "Contents" and "Resources", under the file name "dbgrid.png". Change the file name of this file and the file "dbgrid@2x.png" safety, in "old.png" and "old@2x.png". So, you can restore the Wallpaper back to that later.
- Now you can insert your image in the folder. You have to do this twice, because the files "dbgrid.png" and "dbgrid@2x.png" need. The second file is used for the preview of the Dashboard in the Overview. After you have customized the file name, you can use your new Dashboard.
- To see the Changes, you must restart the Dashboard first though. To do this, open the Terminal and type the command "killall Dock". Now the new Background is displayed.
